Abstract

The present pandemic covid-19 severely impacted health, lives and livelihood and the economy, especially employment. In 2020, the economy was estimated to be contracted by 7.03% compared to 4% GDP growth in 2019. The economy faced both demand and supply problem. Farmers faced the problem o f marketing their product. The lockdown produced an unprecedented shock to the labour market. Casual and self-employed workers were most likely to lose their work and income. The government has been trying its level best and gradually opting for various welfare schemes along with liberal fiscal and monetary policies. The Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan is the plan launched by the Government of India to give pace to the much needed and depressed parameters of the economy.
